The federal government recently enacted several executive orders addressing immigration policies. In response, the office of the University of Michigan President Mark S. Schlissel issued several policy statements making clear the stance of the University on those policies related to the university community.
At MARI, we value the diversity that all of our staff, students and clients bring to our community — and will continue to do so. We don’t yet know how these policies will be enacted and things are changing rapidly. The University has a long-standing commitment to support non-discrimination, privacy, and public safety and that will not be changing.
We do not inquire about immigration status, nor is it necessary to disclose to receive services.
The International Center on campus can help answer questions and clarify how an individual may be affected. The University’s statement in response to the immigration legislation can be found on the U-M Announcements page and will continue to be updated with official University responses to pressing policy issues.
If you have any questions about our services or an upcoming appointment, please reach out to MARI staff. We will continue this conversation as more information unfolds.
