Self-compassion Group Therapy – Fall 2017

Events, Group Therapy, News

A new session of the Psychological Clinic’s Self-compassion group therapy is scheduled to begin soon. The group will run weekly on Wednesdays from 5:00-6:30pm, for 8 weekly 90-minute visits. The start date is dependent upon the number of participants. The group will be led by an experienced postdoctoral fellow with expertise in this area.

About the Therapy Approach

This group will blend Mindful Self-Compassion (Neff & Germer) and Compassion Focused Therapy (Gilbert) and includes psycho-education, group discussions, and experiential exercises. The goal of the group is to learn to manage painful emotions and life’s difficulties through the daily cultivation and practice of self-compassion. Individuals who may be a particularly good fit are those who have difficulty self-soothing, are hard on themselves, struggle with self-criticism/ shame/guilt/worthlessness, engage in avoidance, or feel alone in their suffering.

How to Sign Up/Make a Referral
