During the Aphasia Social Hours this month, we will focus on discussions around what family means to you, a virtual tailgate!, the magic of movies, it’s fall y’all, and Halloween.
Please register for each of the weeks you’d like to participate. Sign up for them all to make sure you don’t miss out on connecting with others in the aphasia community and staying social. Building confidence and staying connected are some of the best things you can do for yourself and loved ones when aphasia is a part of your life.
NOTE: This is a free, voluntary social hour and is not therapy or offered in place of therapy. It is free to participate, but registration is required in order to get a personalized link to join.
October 2020 Aphasia Social Hour Schedule
- 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1 – Family Day
This week the focus will be on family! Share your favorite pictures, memories, and values. Do you have a special family recipe you’ve tried to replicate but just can’t seem to? Have you found kinship through a “chosen” family? In this social hour with Jenn, here’s your chance to talk about all things family!
- 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8 – Virtual Tailgate
Get the crockpot ready – it’s time for a virtual tailgate! Come to this week’s social hour ready to discuss sports and teams that are important to you. Dress up in your favorite jersey, wear your lucky socks, and tell us all about it! Oh, and don’t forget the food. What is one snack you can’t tailgate without? (And no, beer doesn’t count.)
- 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15 – Movie Magic!
Who doesn’t love a good movie? This week, dive into the magic of movies! Talk about your favorites, play a low-pressure game of Name That Movie, Name The Actor, and more. Do you remember the first movie you saw in a theater? What about the last one? Is there a movie you love to quote? Join us for this exciting social hour to tell us all about it.
- 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22 – Fall Favorites
It’s officially feeling like fall. Join Mimi and Elise in celebrating the cozy season! What’s your favorite part of fall? Is there a fun activity you make sure to do every year? Have you visited the apple orchard yet? Let’s talk about the seasonal shift and what that means for you, wherever you are in the world.
- 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29 – Halloween!
It’s just a few days until All Hallow’s Eve – are you ready to share spooky tales and fond memories of Halloween’s past? Halloween is a time to celebrate and dress up as someone (or something) different for a day. What is your favorite part of Halloween? Do you love it or hate it? Don’t forget to dress up – we can’t wait to see your amazing costumes!
