Giving Blue Day: Give the Gift of Communication

General, News

Tuesday, December 2nd is Giving Blue Day! Join in the national movement of Giving Tuesday by becoming a victor for language and donating to the Mary A. Rackham Institute’s University Center for Language and Literacy (UCLL). Join us in changing the lives of adults and children who are affected by speech, language, and communication disorders.

Few things are as valuable as the ability to communicate. Our programs help build and restore that ability, improving interactions with family and friends.

The University of Michigan Aphasia Program (UMAP)
For over 65  years, the University of Michigan Aphasia Program at UCLL has been helping people regain speech and language function lost after a stroke, brain injury or tumor. We are experts and our intensive therapy approach works. Many clients return to our program because they see progress and want to continue. Unfortunately, intensive therapy programs such as ours are very scarce. We are one of only a handful in North America.

Preschool Language Programs
The Preschool And Communication Therapy (PACT) and CorePACTprograms at UCLL provide intensive therapy to improve language at a young age. When families need an early intervention in their child’s language development, PACT is where they can turn. The Linda Atkins Memorial Scholarship Fund ensures that these programs continue and are financially accessible to these children in need and their families.
