What is your approach to therapy?: Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
What is your approach to wellness?: When I am able to consider my own self-care, I try to engage in the things I know will bring me the care and peace I want in a particular moment, and try to decide mindfully if I can do that, if I can be patient and wait for it, or if I can move on. This usually requires a lot of time to reflect, which we do not always give ourselves. I often find myself utilizing the concepts of DBT, mainly the idea that we are all doing the best we can and we can do better, to try to get myself unstuck from feeling that I am “underserving”, or otherwise “beating myself up”, which generally does not affect positive change regarding what I want. Practicing being non-judgmental in myself, and others tends to lead to better self-care for me.
