Education: Ph.D. and master’s in clinical psychology, California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP) at Alliant International University, Los Angeles; Master’s in Counseling Psychology, Western Michigan University; Bachelor of Science (Psychology and Spanish), Western Michigan University.
Professional Interests: Ethnic/racial identity development, intersectionality, trauma, grief/loss, spirituality, acculturative stress, immigrant mental health, cross-cultural psychology and practices, neurodiversity, LGBTQIA+ affirming, community mental health, supervision and training.
What is your approach to therapy?: My therapeutic approach is grounded in evidence-based treatments and integrative techniques contingent on the individual’s needs. I primarily use third wave Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and trauma-informed approaches with strong emphasis in multicultural and liberation psychology techniques. I also like to incorporate mindful self-compassion, traditional healing practices, and psychodynamic style.
What is your approach to wellness?: I approach wellness through a holistic approach and taking care of my mind and body. I enjoy exercising, exploring and immersing myself in different cultures and trying new foods. I enjoy traveling (but not flying) and connecting with friends and family. I appreciate a good book as well.
