What Is Behavioral Medicine, and How Can It Help?
Behavioral medicine focuses on the relationship between physical health, thoughts, emotions, and behavior. Living with a chronic illness can affect far more than the body. It may influence your mood, relationships, routines, identity, and ability to participate in work, school, or other daily activities.
Even when a medical condition is being treated effectively, its emotional impact can be difficult to manage. You may feel worried about symptoms, discouraged by limitations, overwhelmed by treatment demands, or uncertain about the future.
The Mind Body Medicine Protocol can support you in learning how to:
- Manage stress and anxiety related to your health.
- Respond to difficult thoughts and emotions more effectively.
- Develop mindfulness and acceptance-based coping skills.
- Adjust to changes in your health, routines, or abilities.
- Build habits that support emotional and physical well-being.
- Identify meaningful goals and take realistic steps toward them.
- Approach your health experiences with greater confidence and self-compassion.
