Services for Adults

We offer individual therapy services designed for adults who experience problems understanding and using language. Through one-on-one intervention, we aim to maximize your speech, reading, language, and learning abilities. An individual treatment plan is developed for you based on your specific learning needs and goals. Individual therapy can supplement any of our group programs.

You may benefit from individual therapy if you exhibit one or more of these diagnoses:

  • Aphasia and Apraxia
  • Dyslexia
  • Expressive and receptive language disabilities
  • Literacy (reading and writing) or learning difficulties
  • Oral motor difficulties
  • Phonological processing disorders
  • Social/pragmatic language challenges

If you are experiencing speech-language issues after a stroke, illness or head injury, our U-M Aphasia Program may be a good fit. UMAP provides intensive speech-language therapy for adults who have difficulty speaking, reading, writing and comprehending language following a trauma to the brain.
