UCLL Summer Reading Session: R-t-I for Readers Entering 3rd Grade

Events, News

Does your student need a reading boost? The University Center for Language and Literacy (UCLL) can help!

The UCLL Summer Reading Intensive can help your reader close literacy gaps and build up confidence in their skills. This Response-to-Intervention summer program is for children entering 3rd grade in the fall. Our Reading Intensive may be a good fit for your child whether they have been officially evaluated and provided with an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP), or if their present level of performance is high, but they have gaps in areas such as reading fluency or spelling. The program is set up to help all learners.

The program typically begins with a benchmark assessment of your child’s reading ability in order to determine their level of critical skills like fluency, accuracy, and comprehension. Your child’s literacy skill development sessions will be based on their assessment. Our experienced reading interventionists will work with your child to close reading gaps as efficiently as possible, while focusing on their individual needs. UCLL interventionists use research-based instructional approaches, including Orton-Gillingham and Lindamood-Bell multi-sensory intervention strategies. Individual and small group intervention is designed to turn struggling readers into successful readers!

The Reading Intensive will occur Mondays through Wednesdays, August 5-21, 2019. The times available are 10:30 a.m. to noon or 2-3:30 p.m. We try to accommodate time preferences, but participants may be assigned a session based on group dynamics. The cost is $250 per child.

Please fill out the Summer Reading Intensive Application to begin the registration process. Please call us at (734) 764-8440 if you need assistance or have questions. You can also find more information on our Summer Reading Intensive page.

UCLL also offers individual reading interventions throughout the year for children in kindergarten through middle school. Please give us a call at (734) 764-8440 for more information on these other programs.
